Volkl 3D Ridge Technology: It has become a symbol of Völkl lightweight construction. The distinctive characteristic of this technology is a raised central ridge that sharply levels out toward the edge, both in front of and behind the binding. This reduces the inertial mass around the fulcrum to a minimum and significantly enhances the agility of the ski. At the same time, the center ridge allows for a precise dimensioning of the hardness distribution, which leads to an especially harmonious flex on the ski. Despite the weight savings, the 3D.RIDGE ensures that there is no compromise whatsoever in the ski‘s durability and elasticity.
Moderate Taper: Moderate Taper lightens up the tip and tail of the ski a bit so that you are't fighting too much swing weight as you bring your turns around from one edge to the other. It realizes, however, that all things are best in moderation. This maxim holds true in this instance because to much weight reduction in your tips and tails reduces the inertia of the ski for resisting deflections to its direction. A perfect balance is struck between weight that drives the ski and nimbleness.
Ice Off Topsheet: The next step in weight reduction. Ice Off represents the latest topsheet technology in touring skis. Its unique 3D surface structure and material composition avoid icing causing snow to simply slide off the topsheet. This leads to a drastic reduction - up to 20 to 30 percent of the weight of during use. In addition, white coloration adds to the anti-icing effect. Light skis prevent fatigue and offer enhanced performance on long steep ascents.
Multi-Layer Wood Core; Volkl freeskiing models feature a multi-layer wood core that features two different densities of wood. In the binding attachment area, a dense, ash core is used, while in the rest of the ski, the core is poplar. The more dense wood creates more secure screw retention, preventing binding pull-out, and the soft, supple poplar section allows for resilience and snap. The flex pattern is tailored to each ski model, depending on the desired performance.
SkinPin Touring Technology: Volkl Touring models feature the Skin Pin system. The skin is affixed to the ski's tip using a built-in pin. One 90-degree rotation and it's attached. The result is a 100% reliable mount. The system can be checked visually from above, ensuring that the skier has complete control at all times. In a pinch, the hole in the ski tip can also be used to convert the skins into a rescue toboggan or a sled.
Full Rocker: Extended Low Profile (ELP) gives the skier all the benefits of added maneuverability in soft snow while also delivering smooth, graceful arcs on groomed terrain. How? By matching the flex and sidecut with the full rocker (long, gradual bend from tip to tail) profile, the skier automatically gains full edge contact. With a stiffer tip and softer mid-body, Völkl Full Rocker skis offer bomber stability and easy turn initiation combined with uncanny smoothness. The more you put it on edge, the more effective the edge becomes. The resulting performance has resulted in several Ski of the Year honors.
Short Sidewall Construction: Sandwich construction under the skier's heel, to help her control turns more easily. The CAP construction at tip and tail makes the skis lighter and allows easier pivoting.
Carbon Fiber Only- Aerospace carbon is the only material used other than the core to make the lightest skis possible, with strength that is unmatched, and class-leading torsional stiffness.
